Reflection on ICT as a constructive tool

ICT as a constructive tool

Above video tutorial was one of the my own accomplished task for the first time in my life. When i construct this video tutorial i have gained my experiences. Earlier i don't have the knowledge about video making and editing on video makers apps. Now i can able to use some ideas and able to applied some knowledge that i learned from above video tutorial. In future it will be easier for me to construct such video tutorials for students and teach students well.

The word construct means make or create. ICT as a constructive tool can be refer to making or creating own knowledge and meaning with the use of ICT. Since constructive is mostly personal construction of meaning it is one of the best approaches for students to learn. Instead of teacher teaching theoretically it is most important to give student practical task for their own construction of knowledge and meaning. So this will help students to explore more on different sources of information and remember for long time in their life.

Constructive approach in teaching and learning is very effective when the student is actively engaged on task. In the constructive classroom no student is left behind and all are at same level of learning since this approach is mostly use for individual’s meaning construction. All students were learning in their own way through different sources of information. Example like when sir has given the task on simulation everyone has to do individually and everyone was able to learn how to go about simulation.

In this approach, when we are engaging in any construction I can say that it not only improve our construction skills but also improve other skills. When we are engaging in any task first we have think critically about how to go on, how to construct effectively, how to make interesting etc. So in this way it helps to grow our thinking skills. It also helps in social interaction since we have to ask for help form friends when we are stuck in the task. Constructive approach will naturally boost individual knowledge and meaning making.

Examples of constructive tools which help manipulate information, visualize understanding and construct own knowledge are concept map, desktop publishing, word, spread sheet and PowerPoint. Concept map is a program that allows users to make their own understanding among collection of concepts through visualizing and brainstorming their own. Desktop publishing allows users to construct their own ideas in an attractive ways and present to others. Whereas word, spreadsheet and PowerPoint are to record, manipulate and organize their ideas in the form of reports, letters, presentations etc. There are others tools for constructive like multi authoring tools, simulations and social networking sites (blogs/face book/twitter).
